Tioga: Zeron sweeps NYSS tests with Chapter Seven fillies

Scott Zeron steered I'll Have The Red and Nezuko Kamado S, two daughters of Chapter Seven, to wins in their respective $53,500 New York Sire Stakes flights for rookie trotting fillies on Sunday afternoon at Tioga Downs.

Overalls (Jordan Stratton) cut the quarter in 28 1/5 in the first division, but I'll Have The Red, who got away in the third spot, brushed to the front on the way to the 58 1/5 half. I'll Have The Red then reached three-quarters in 1:27 1/5 and opened up in a 28 4/5 final quarter, defeating Jula Hot To Chill (Tyler Buter) in 7 1/4 lengths in 1:56. Grace In Heaven (Brett Beckwith) collected third.

Rick Zeron trains and co-owns I'll Have The Red with partners James Walker and Johnny Marvento. Bred by Black Horse Racing and John Fielding, I'll Have The Red is two-for-two with earnings of $36,678 and paid $5.80 to win.

Storybook Love (Todd Ratchford) cut opening-half fractions of 28 1/5 and 58 2/5 in the other split, but Nezuko Kamado S, who was positioned in the pocket, moved to the engine prior to the 1:26 3/5 three-quarters. It was all Nezuko Kamado S from there as she pulled away with a 29 second last panel to down a late-gaining Sharp Seven (Jeff Gregory) by two lengths in 1:55 3/5. Storybook Love wound up third.

A homebred for Courant Inc., Nezuko Kamado S is trained by Marcus Melander. Nezuko Kamado S broke her maiden in her second start, has pocketed $40,125 and returned $3.50 to win.
