Tioga: Three-year-old pacers meet up in Geers divisions

Three Geers events, one for pacing colts and geldings and a pair for their filly counterparts, were the marquee events on Friday evening's card at Tioga Downs.
The boys went after a purse of $73,000, and Live Lucky (Wally Hennessey) charged away from post eight to the front, reaching the opening quarter in 26 1/5. He would then give way to Cloudbreak (Mark MacDonald), who would go on to hit the half in 54 1/5 and the three-quarters in 1:21 3/5, but he was worn down and passed by a first-over Seafarer (Marcus Miller). Warrawee Unique (Mike Merton) had followed Seafarer's cover all the way, though, and he had the better finish through the lane, getting up to win by half a length in 1:50 1/5. Seafarer had to settle for second, with Captain Panko (Mike Simons) closing from eighth to third.
A Sweet Lou gelding, Warrawee Unique is trained by Ron Burke for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Crawford Farms LLC., J&T Silva- Purnel & Libby, and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. This was Warrawee Unique's third career win, and he has now earned $82,002. Racing as part of an entry that was favored at even-money, Warrawee Unique paid $4.20 to win.
In the first $33,750 split for the ladies, Abigail Dawn (MacDonald) took the group through stations of 27 2/5, 57 2/5, and 1:23 4/5, but in the lane 24-1 shot JK Mardi Says (Josert Fonseca), who had been saving ground in the back-half of the field, swung out while and was full of pace, rallying by the leaders to score by a neck in 1:52 2/5. Abigail Dawn was placed up to second when original second-place finisher Alli Nui (Miller) was demoted to third for a violation.
Nancy Johansson trains JK Mardi Says, a daughter of Somebeachsomewhere, for owner/breeder 3 Brothers Stables. JK Mardi Says made her fifth appearance in the winner's circle, and she has now pocketed $59,824. She returned $51.50 to win.
Adorabella (Hennessey) had command at the 27 second opening quarter, 56 1/5 half, and 1:24 1/5 three-quarters in the other $33,750 filly flight, but As Time Goes By (Troy Beyer) overhauled her from first-over, with Rose Run Uptowngal (Jim Meittinis) and Rocknroll Annie (Miller) following As Time Goes By from second-over and third-over, respectively. Rose Run Uptowngal, the 4-5 favorite, had the jump on Rocknroll Annie as they overtook As Time Goes By in the lane, but Rocknroll Annie had more to offer late, surging by for a one and a quarter length decision in 1:53 1/5. Rose Run Uptowngal did wind up second, with Alkippe (Simons) third.
Rocknroll Annie, a filly by A Rocknroll Dance, is trained by Erv Miller for owners Michael Anderson, Lou Willinger, and Glenn Bechtel. Unraced as a rookie, Rocknroll Annie has a record of 3-2-1 from 11 tries in 2019, and she has put away $37,855. She was dispatched at 4-1 and paid $10.20 to win.
