Tioga: Seven Grand, Titans Mischief deliver in New York Sire Stakes
Two New York Sire Stakes events for 2-year-old male trotters headlined Sunday afternoon's races at Tioga Downs, and Seven Grand and Titans Mischief were the winners.
In the first $53,500 split Secured (Matt Kakaley) hustled to the early lead, but entrymate Seven Grand (Ake Svanstedt), who floated away from post five, drove on two-wide and went by Secured nearing the 28 3/5 quarter. From there, Seven Grand put up the half in 58 4/5 and three-quarters in 1:27 1/5, then closed in 29 1/5 to win by a length and three-quarters in 1:56 2/5. Chapter Geo J (Jason Bartlett) took a first-over shot at the winner but was rebuffed and had to settle for the runner-up spot and AI (Tyler Buter), the 1-2 favorite, couldn't mount a bid from second-over and wound up third.
Seven Grand, a Chapter Seven colt bred by Patty Key, is also trained and co-owned by Svanstedt in partnership with Little E LLC., Soderberg Bloodstock LLC. and Van Camp Trotting Corp. Seven Grand broke his maiden in his second chance, has now earned $32,710 and paid $8.50 to win.

Read The Room (Svanstedt) was on a loose lead at the 27 1/5 quarter and 56 second half in the other $52,500 section, but Titans Mischief (Kakaley), who had been gapped in the pocket, caught up to the pace-setter past the half, tipped off the cones and went by Read The Room after the 1:24 4/5 three-quarters. Who's Eyes Blues (Buter) tracked Titans Mischief's move and had every chance to go by in the lane, but he was unable to as Titans Mischief held sway by a length and a quarter in 1:55 2/5. Hezagoldmine (Braxten Boyd) got third.
Bred by co-owner/trainer Bruce Clarke with co-owner John Coffey and Megan Beauchamp, Titans Mischief, a colt by E L Titan, has a summary of 2-3-0 from five tries and has put away $116,625. He returned $5.80 to win as the second choice.
