Heavily-favored Earthwindfire and Twin B Joe Fresh won as expected in New York Sire Stakes action for 3-year-old pacing fillies on Sunday afternoon at Tioga Downs. Each event carried a purse of $60,300.
Earthwindfire raced in the first division and led at the 27 second opening quarter before allowing a two-wide Turn On The Charm (Marcus Miller) to clear past that marker. Driver Jack Pelling immediately re-moved Earthwindfire to the top, and after she took charge again, she hit the half in 55 seconds and the three-quarters in 1:23 on her way to a one length win in 1:50 4/5. Sweet Home (Brian Sears) put in a game effort after going first-over from third past the half and wound up second over Turn On The Charm.
Brett Pelling trains Earthwindfire, a daughter of American Ideal bred by Stephen Dey III, for owners Mel Segal, Kentuckiana Racing Stable and Tulip Racing. Earthwindfire has a record of 10-4-0 from 16 starts, pushed her earnings to $466,400 and paid $2.90 to win as the 2-5 choice.
In the other section Rock My Socks (Tyler Miller) and Light And Tight (Mike Merton) hooked up in a duel for the lead through fractions of 26 4/5, 54 1/5 and 1:22. 1-9 favorite and defending NYSS champion Twin B Joe Fresh (Jason Bartlett) tracked Light And Tight from second-over after grabbing a seat in fourth from post eight, then was sent three-wide on the way to three-quarters.

Twin B Joe Fresh assumed the first-over position beyond three-quarters, blew by the spent Rock My Socks on the final bend and went on to score by a length and a half in 1:50 1/5, with Vivians Dream (Sears), who was able to get to the outside from the pocket on the last turn, closing well behind her for second. Southwind Bella (Jack Pelling) gained from fifth to third in the final quarter.
Trainer Chris Ryder also co-owns Twin B Joe Fresh, a Roll With Joe filly, with partners Dexter Dunn, Peter Trebotica and Barry Spak. Twin B Joe Fresh has 11 wins, three seconds and a third from 16 career appearances, has now pocketed $746,748 and returned $2.20 to win.
