Tioga Downs: Shartin N stars again in Artiscape

Shartin N ran her win streak to three in-a-row and kept control of the open mare pace ranks with a 1:50 victory in the $161,000 Artiscape on Sunday afternoon at Tioga Downs.
Driven by Tim Tetrick, Shartin N got away in fourth while Caviart Ally (Andrew McCarthy) charged out from the outside post nine and hit the opening quarter in 26 2/5. Tetrick moved Shartin N to the outside off the first turn, though, and she was able to brush to the top before the second turn, though, and she would reach the half in 54 2/5.
Pure Country (Yannick Gingras) tried things first-over from fifth nearing the half, but she couldn't reach Shartin N at the 1:22 2/5 three-quarters or around the final bend, and although Caviart Ally popped back to the outside off the final turn and chipped into the lead late, Shartin N held sway by a well-measured three-parts of a length. Apple Bottom Jeans (Jim Marohn Jr.) got third after following cover from second-over.
A 5-year-old daughter of Tintin In America, Shartin N is trained by Jim King Jr. for owners Richard Poilucci and Jo Ann Looney-King. Shartin N is now 14-for-18 in the win column in her initial North American campaign, has 21 career victories, and banked $838,448 lifetime. The 3-5 favorite, she paid $3.30 to win.
