Tioga: Buter bats two-for-two in Sunday's New York Sire Stakes

Beautiful Sight 7-14-24
Fred J. Brown Jr. Beautiful Sight began her racing career with a New York Sire Stakes victory

Driver Tyler Buter guided My Debt Collecter and Beautiful Sight to wins in the two $54,500 New York Sire Stakes tests for 2-year-old trotting fillies that occurred on Sunday afternoon at Tioga Downs.

Caviart Adele (James MacDonald) had the lead through panels of 28 1/5, 58 2/5 and 1:28 3/5 in the first grouping, but My Debt Collecter, who went first-up from third prior to three-quarters, advanced steadily on the rim and forged her way by Caviart Adele in the stretch. Once she had command, My Debt Collecter trotted clear in the closing strides, winning by a length and a half over Caviart Adele in 1:57 4/5. Royal Mission (Matt Kakaley) was third from the pocket.

A daughter of Chapter Seven trained by Nifty Norman, My Debt Collecter was bred by Mel Hartman, Herb Liverman, David McDuffee and Little E LLC. and is owned by Hartman, McDuffee and Little E LLC. This was her first win in her second start, she has now earned $30,750 and paid $7.80 to win as the 5-2 third choice.

In the other section Beautiful Sight and Buter showed speed from post two but were overtaken by Pink Chou Chou (MacDonald) for the top spot beyond a 28 3/5 quarter. Pink Chou Chou, the 1-2 favorite, then gave way to sit in the pocket behind a two-wide Chapvious on the way to the 58 2/5 half, and Chapvious continued on top through three-quarters in 1:28 2/5 as Buter guided Beautiful Sight first-over.

Chapvious maintained an advantage over Beautiful Sight around the last turn and into the lane, but about halfway through the stretch, Chapvious ducked in badly towards the infield and lost all her momentum, handing the lead and the 1:56 2/5 win to Beautiful Sight. Pink Chou Chou was the runner-up, half a length behind Beautiful Sight, and Chapvious wound up third. There was an inquiry into Chapvious's action in the stretch, but she was not found to have committed any violations.

Another Chapter Seven filly, Beautiful Sight is trained by Ake Svanstedt for owner S R F Stable. Beautiful Sight, bred by Ab Svensk Reklamfinans, was making her pari-mutuel debut off a fourth and a third in two baby races at the Meadowlands and returned $50.00 as a 24-1 offering.
