Trainer Travis Alexander's dynamic duo of New York-sired 3-year-old male pacers - Howlenthehills and Huntingforchrome - won the pair of New York Sire Stakes flights that happened on Sunday afternoon at Tioga Downs. Matt Kakaley drove both horses.
In the opening $57,000 division, Howlenthehills got to the lead around Bruce's Vo N Coke (Jason Bartlett) nearing the 26 2/5 quarter, and after he put up middle-half panels of 55 2/5 and 1:24, Howlenthehills sprinted home in 27 2/5 to win by two lengths in 1:51 2/5. Vandiemen Bluechip (Braxten Boyd) went first-over from fifth before three-quarters, got into second on the rim on the final bend and held that spot to the wire and Bruce's Vo N Coke collected third.
A gelding by American Ideal, Howlenthehills was bred by Crawford Farms and is owned by Symmetry Stables LLC. After going without a victory in eight tries as a 2-year-old, Howlenthehills is 10-for-11 (with one second) in the win column in 2024 and has pocketed $374,981 lifetime. He paid $2.20 to win as the 1-9 choice.

Huntingforchrome and Kakaley shot right to the lead from the pole position in the other $58,100 tilt and parked out Spring Blake (Mark MacDonald) through fractions of 26 4/5, 55 3/5 and 1:25. Late on the last turn Kakaley asked Huntingforchrome to go, and he quickly got separation on the others en route to a 2 3/4 length triumph in 1:52 1/5. Boston Rocks (Bartlett) was second from the pocket and Seen Here (Marcus Miller), who fanned out widest from last on the far turn, got up for third.
Also bred by Crawford Farms, Huntingforchrome is a gelded son of Huntsville owned by NY Seb Inc. Huntingforchrome has a summary of 8-2-2 from 25 outings and has put away $329,252 and returned $3.00 to win as the 1-2 favorite.
