Tina Marie Bond, a horse owner and the wife of trainer H. James Bond, was elected president of the New York Thoroughbred Horseman’s Association, which was announced Wednesday evening. Bond, who previously served as the co-vice president of NYTHA, defeated trainer Chad Summers. Both were vying for the job held for six years by Joe Appelbaum, who did not run for re-election as he explores other opportunities. “I am honored to be chosen as the next President of NYTHA,” Bond said in a release. “It is an important time for our industry and the future of horse racing. I look forward to working with NYRA and the New York breeders to continue the great work of keeping New York racing at the top of our industry.” A new board of directors for NYTHA was elected. Owners elected to the board include Tom Bellhouse, Dan Collins, Sanford Goldfarb, Dr. Jennifer White, and Aron Yagoda. Andrew Aaron is the alternate. Trainers elected to the board were Jena Antonucci, David Donk, David Duggan, Jimmy Ferraro, and John Terranova. Linda Rice is the alternate. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
