Timonium: Scheing E Jet wire to wire

Scheing E Jet and jockey Jonathan Joyce took advantage of the scratch of potential pace rival Spirited Game and went wire to wire in the $50,000 Alma North at Timonium. Chrusciki finished second, 3 3/4 lengths in back of Scheing E Jet, with Niclie third in the field of six Maryland-bred fillies and mares. Favored Dance Fee ran fourth.

The Alma North field ran in virtually the same order all the way around in the about 6 1/2-furlong race. Scheing E Jet, from the rail, set fractions of 23.70 seconds and 47.76 while chased by Chrusciki, with Niclie in third. And that pretty much was the race. Scheing E Jet covered the distance in 1:17.23 over a sloppy track and paid $6.20.

The victory was the first in a stakes for Scheing E Jet, a 3-year-old daughter of Unbridled Jet who is owned by Hargett Farms and trained by Ed Gaudet.
