Timonium: P. Kerney in a romp

Joe DeVivo|Sep 04, 2006

P. Kerney captured his third stakes since he was claimed for $25,000 in January, dominating the $50,000 Taking Risks on closing day at Timonium.

A 5-year-old gelding trained by Ben Feliciano Jr., P. Kerney went right to the front in the 6 1/2-furlong race for Maryland-breds as jockey Joe Rocco Jr. put him in favorable position along the rail. P. Kerney was never seriously threatened and coasted to an 8 1/4-length victory, completing the distance in a track-record 1:15.31. The previous record for the two-turn distance was 1:16.60, set by Weather Vane in 1997.

Offtheglass finished second at 16-1, 2 3/4 lengths in front of Love's Strong Hart.

In six starts for Feliciano, P. Kerney has three wins and three seconds, all in stakes.
