TimeformUS Saratoga Horses in Focus for Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018
Race 4:
Filly Joel (#9)
Broke slowly in his debut but rated kindly and made a strong late move to be fourth.
Was against the track last time, as speed and the rail were very strong on Aug. 19.
Acts like a filly who should appreciate the stretch-out to seven furlongs.
5-1 on ML
Race 8:
Spectacular Plum (#2)
Showed improvement in his two starts at Monmouth this spring, as he ran better than it appears with wide trips.
Was not able to fire his best shot two back at Belmont, as he got buried down on the rail while trying to rally.
Should go off at a square price for connections that rarely ship to New York.
6-1 on ML
Race 10:
Sower (#3)
Ran very well when making a menacing move to the lead in the Victory Ride before flattening out late.
Should appreciate the slight cutback in distance to six furlongs.
Appears to be heading into this race in top form after an impressive recent workout.
8-1 on ML
Race 11:
Excellent Sunset (#1)
Got a massive bump in her TimeformUS Speed Figure last time (107) for overcoming an extremely slow pace to win.
The horse she beat last time returned to win impressively next time out with an improved speed figure.
DRF Formulator Fact: Over the past five years, Brendan Walsh is 5 for 22 (23 percent, $2.89 ROI) with last-out maiden winners on the turf.
6-1 on ML
