TimeformUS Belmont Horses in Focus for Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018
Race 3:
Empire of War (#4)
Was heavily touted prior to his debut at Saratoga, in which he disappointed after showing brief speed.
Is bred to be a top runner as a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Separationofpowers.
Could play out as the controlling speed.

Race 5:
Lezendary (#5)
May not have cared for wet tracks in two of her last three starts.
A fast recent bullet workout on Sept. 3 suggests she may be rounding back into top form.
The Pace Projector is predicting a situation favoring runners on or near the lead, and she figures to be sitting close.
6-1 on ML
---
Race 6:
Mascarello (#7)
Raced too close to a pace that collapsed last time while going wide.
Was also against the track profile on May 12 when he was wide in a race dominated by horses that raced on the rail.
Should appreciate getting back to this one-turn mile distance at Belmont.
