Time Passage pushes win streak to four with Cellars Shiraz win

Lauren King Time Passage remained unbeaten around two turns on Tapeta, taking the Cellars Shiraz at Gulfstream.

Time Passage remained unbeaten at two turns on Tapeta on Friday, when she won her fourth straight race in the $65,000 Cellars Shiraz at Gulfstream Park. She won by a neck over Coco, while it was another 2 1/2 lengths back in third to To Thyself B True.

The stakes shared a card with the $65,000 Our Dear Peggy won by Dancing N Dixie.

The Cellars Shiraz was a 1 1/16 miles race for 3-year-old fillies on Tapeta. The field lost one of its speed horses with the scratch of On the Payroll.

Time Passage ($3.40) took the lead soon after the start Friday, and was clear through fractions of 24.62 for the opening quarter, 48.81 for the half-mile and 1:12.65 for six furlongs. Coco mounted a challenge in the stretch and made a second run at the leader late, but was unable to get past Time Passage, who covered the distance in 1:43.83.

Edgard Zayas was aboard the winner for trainer Eddie Plesa Jr.

Time Passage is now 4-for-4 in two turns races on Tapeta. Her current streak started in August and included a win in the $100,000 Miss Gracie in October. The races have all come at Gulfstream.

Time Passage is a daughter of the Medaglia d’Oro stallion Tunwoo. She races for Laurie Plesa and Glassman Racing. Time Passage is now 6 for 13 for earnings of $326,655.

In the Our Dear Peggy for 2-year-old fillies, Dancing N Dixie moved past 4-5 favorite and pacesetter Bubbly Champagne for a half-length win over that one. It was another three-quarters of a length back in third to De Regreso.

Dancing N Dixie ($9.20) tracked Bubbly Champagne through fractions of 24.97 seconds for the opening quarter, 49.04 for the half-mile and 1:13.33 for six furlongs before going on to cover one-mile and 70 yards on Tapeta in 1:42.54.

Miguel Vasquez was aboard for trainer Mark Casse.

Dancing N Dixie became a stakes winner with the victory and also remained unbeaten at both two turns and on Tapeta. Overall, she is 2 for 4 for the partnership of Quintessential Racing Florida, Rocky Top Stable, and LE MB Stables.

Dancing N Dixie is a daughter of Neolithic who has now earned $89,610.
