HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Trainer Brad Cox has a growing list of talented 3-year-old fillies, the most accomplished of which is On Time Girl, who will seek her third consecutive stakes victory in Saturday’s Grade 2 Davona Dale going one mile at Gulfstream Park. The Davona Dale is advertised as having a $225,000 purse, but $25,000 is reserved only for Florida-breds. My Miss Mo is the lone Florida-bred in what figures to be a seven-horse field come post time. Nine were entered in the race, but Paradise and Blazing Brat will scratch to run in Saturday’s Busher Stakes at Aqueduct. The Davona Dale awards its top five finishers qualifying points (50-25-15-10-5) to the May 1 Kentucky Oaks. On Time Girl, a daughter of Not This Time, has won 4 of 5 starts. She kicked off her 3-year-old campaign with a three-length victory in the Grade 3 Forward Gal here last month, a race in which she had a bit of an uncomfortable trip. In the Forward Gal, On Time Girl raced on the inside of Imperatrice while both stalked Mythical down the backside. On Time Girl got squeezed back a few spots going into the far turn. Irad Ortiz Jr. found some clear room a few paths wide in the stretch, and with just a wave of his whip, On Time Girl drew away for the victory. “She’s a very, very tough filly. She definitely overcame some things last time,” Cox said. :: Play Gulfstream Park with confidence! DRF Past Performances, Picks, and Clocker Reports are available now.  Cox had the option of waiting until next month’s Gulfstream Park Oaks to try and stretch On Time Girl out around two turns, but he liked the way the filly worked last weekend and this gives him a chance to stretch her out more gradually. “It looks like a good spot. She’s doing well. [It] gives us an opportunity to stretch her out a little bit more from seven [furlongs] to a one-turn mile,” Cox said. “She finished up full of run last time.” Imperatrice, a daughter of City of Light, won her maiden going a mile on Dec. 13 at Gulfstream before finishing second to On Time Girl in the Forward Gal. “I thought she’d run well in the Forward Gal and should appreciate the added distance” Saturday, trainer Todd Pletcher said. “I think she’s looking for two turns eventually. I’m really looking forward to getting her stretched out further.” Pletcher also runs She Be Smooth, a daughter of Lexitonian, who won her debut here Jan. 23 going a mile by 2 1/4 lengths. Prom Queen, runner-up to She Be Smooth, came back to win a maiden race by eight lengths here Feb. 12. “I thought her debut was very good and was flattered when Prom Queen came back to win,” Pletcher said. “I just felt there’s not a lot of allowance opportunities, so we put her in here to see where we stand.” :: Get Gulfstream Park Clocker Reports from Mike Welsch and the Clocker Team. Haute Diva upset the Cash Run Stakes at 14-1 here on dirt on New Year’s Day after getting beaten by a neck in a turf allowance Dec. 6. Trainer Patrick Biacone said he believes Haute Diva wants more distance than the mile, but this race should get her to the Gulfstream Park Oaks, a 1 1/16-mile race on March 28, in good shape. “We would have preferred to go a bit further,” Biancone said. “We can next time, anyway.” Omaha Bay comes out of a maiden victory going six furlongs for trainer Ian Wilkes. In that race, she defeated Swing Vote, who finished third but came back to win a maiden race by one length with a solid Beyer Speed Figure of 87. Trainer Bill Mott said Swing Vote and his Fountain of Youth entrant, Chief Wallabee, “worked nice together last week. Hopefully, a little stretch-out in distance will be good for her.” My Miss Mo won a statebred maiden race by 12 lengths on Nov. 9 going seven furlongs at Gulfstream. Most recently, My Miss Mo finished fourth in the Sandpiper Stakes on Dec. 6 at Tampa Bay Downs. – additional reporting by Mike Welsch :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
