Time and Motion adding blinkers for Beaugay

Trainer Jimmy Toner will equip the Grade 1 winner Time and Motion with blinkers for the first time in Saturday’s Grade 3, $150,000 Beaugay Stakes at Belmont Park.
Time and Motion went 5 for 7 last year, but in her season debut this year, she finished sixth, beaten three lengths by Dickinson, in the Grade 1 Jenny Wiley at Keeneland.
Toner said Time and Motion has always had a tendency to look around in her races, but he wasn’t going to make an equipment change with a filly who had been as successful as Time and Motion was last year.
John Velazquez rode Time and Motion in the Jenny Wiley. Toner said that turning for home, Time and Motion “threw her head up in the air and just started to look around.”
“Not that it would have changed anything against those fillies, but Johnny said it was about time,” he said.
On Monday, Time and Motion worked five furlongs in 1:01.40 over the “good” Belmont turf with the blinkers on.
“I thought she breezed really well today, so we’re good to go for Saturday,” Toner said.
The Beaugay is expected to draw Grade 1 winners Dacita and Miss Temple City as well as Rainha Da Bateria, My Sweet Girl, On Leave, and Wekeela.
