ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Ticker Tape Home joins the road to the Woodbine Oaks on Saturday against eight other Canadian-bred 3-year-old fillies in the $125,000 Fury Stakes.
Trained by Mark Casse, Ticker Tape Home graduated easily over the seven-furlong distance of the Fury on the grass here in October, scoring by 9 3/4 lengths with an 84 Beyer. She went to on finish a chalky second against the boys in the Nov. 5 Display Stakes on Tapeta.
Ticker Tape Home started twice over the winter at Tampa Bay Downs, finishing seventh in the Grade 3 Florida Oaks most recently in March. A $625,000 yearling purchase sired by Medaglia d’Oro, she worked a bullet half-mile twice here in the past month.
“She’s training extremely well,” Casse said. “She could be an Oaks-type filly.”
The $500,000 Woodbine Oaks, a 1 1/8-mile event for Canadian-bred 3-year-old fillies, is scheduled for July 23.
Patrick Husbands will ride Ticker Tape Home. The journeyman teamed up with Casse to sweep both graded stakes here last Saturday.
Casse also entered maiden winner Elysian Field and multiple stakes-placed Me and My Shadow.
Trainer Kevin Attard won the 2022 Fury with Moira, who went on to capture the Oaks and Queen’s Plate before being voted Canadian Horse of the Year. He sends out Fashionably Fab and Courtly Ro, who are both making their first start of the year.
Since ending up third in her debut, Fashionably Fab is unbeaten in a trio of sprints, including the six-furlong Shady Well Stakes in December.
“One of the first things that comes to mind with Fashionably Fab is the consistency she’s shown,” Attard said. “She’s a filly that can handle any challenge and doesn’t get fazed by something new. I think another impressive thing is her ability to dig in down the lane. Whenever she’s engaged by a rival, she steps up and enjoys the challenge.”
Courtly Ro graduated on the grass before finishing seventh in the Grade 1 Natalma and then fifth in her lone Tapeta start in the 1 1/16-mile Princess Elizabeth Stakes in October.
“Courtly Ro hooked some tough ones in the last two races of her 2-year-old campaign, but I think they served as important learning experiences for her,” Attard said. “She had a good winter and we’ve given her a steady work tab getting ready for this race. She’s just a nice filly with a great attitude.”

Rounding out the Fury field are Tito’s Calling, Speed Trap, Canadiansweetheart, and Anam Cara.
Tito’s Calling won her last two outings, an open maiden special weight route in December and a seven-furlong Ontario-sired allowance in her May 5 season opener. She has the same connections as 2016 Canadian champion 3-year-old filly Caren and is by Caren’s sire, Society’s Chairman.
The Fury goes as the ninth on a 10-race card with a post time of 1:10 p.m.
