Thunder Snow won't make Woodward, has been sent to Newmarket

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – After missing the Grade 1 Whitney Stakes on Aug. 3 with what his connections said was a fever, Thunder Snow was going to be re-routed to the Grade 1 Woodward here Aug. 31.
But those plans have been scrapped, and Thunder Snow on Tuesday returned to trainer Saeed bin Suroor’s yard at Newmarket. Suroor told Attheraces.com that he still hopes to get Thunder Snow to the Breeders’ Cup on Nov. 2 at Santa Anita but where he runs before then is not decided.

“There are no plans for him at the moment – we’ll just keep monitoring him and see how he is doing and make a plan when we think he’s better,” bin Suroor was quoted in an Attheraces.com story. “The Breeders’ Cup is obviously the plan – and I’d like to get a race in somewhere – but until we can start training him again, we don’t know where that will be.”
Last year, Thunder Snow prepared for the Breeders’ Cup Classic –where he finished third – by running second in the Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont.
