Three work in 9.8 seconds at Ocala preview

Three juveniles shaded the 10-second mark Tuesday at the under-tack show for the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's upcoming April 2-year-old sale in Ocala, Fla.

Fillies by Two Punch, Officer, and Strong Contender posted eighth-mile breeze times of 9.80 seconds at the first of four under-tack preview sessions on the OBS track's synthetic surface. The were Hip No. 89, a Two Punch daughter of Magic Belle; Hip No. 170, a Strong Contender-Ms. Fupeg filly; and Hip No. 224, an Officer filly out of Ontheqt.

The day's fastest quarter-mile work was from Hip No. 88, a filly by Da Stoops out of Magical Promise, who traveled the distance in 20.40 seconds. The top time for a three-eighths-mile work was Hip No. 14's breeze of 33.40 seconds. The colt is by With Distinction out of Lady Samira.

The under-tack preview was to continue through Friday. Hip Nos. 1-306 worked on Tuesday. The remaining schedule is as follows: Hip Nos. 307-612 on Wednesday, Hip Nos. 613-916 on Thursday, and Hip Nos. 917-1221 on Friday. Under-tack sessions start daily at 8 a.m.

The four-day auction will run April 19-22 at the OBS pavilion, starting at 10:30 a.m. each day.
