A fair amount of water has gone under the bridge since Private Thoughts, Bail Us Out, and Brawn last met. The trio finished first, second, and third, respectively, in a $100,000 overnight handicap over the Tapeta course at Gulfstream Park on Dec. 27. On Friday, the threesome will finally get to renew acquaintances when topping a field of seven older horses going a mile and 70 yards over the synthetic track in the afternoon’s main event. This time they will go postward under high-priced optional-claiming and allowance conditions. Private Thoughts rallied from mid-pack to a fairly convincing 2 1/4-length victory in the group’s previous encounter. That race closed out a very productive 2025 campaign for trainer Ronald Spatz during which he finished first or second in all six of his starts, won four times, and amassed earnings of nearly $200,000 for the partnership of Spatz and longtime client David Romanik. Private Thoughts has started twice this season, finishing third against overnight handicap competition in his 2026 debut before switching to the grass and finishing fifth as the 6-5 favorite in the FHBPA Turf Stakes on April 25. It was the first time the 5-year-old son of Neolithic failed to finish in the money in his last 10 starts dating back to the summer of 2024. :: Access the most trusted data and information in horse racing! There appears to be a couple of horses in there who’d like to be on the lead, and he’s really good when he can be stalking.” Bail Us Out has not started since coming out second best to Private Thoughts in December. He disappeared from the work tab for an eight-week period in the interim before returning to get in five published works in preparation for his 2026 debut. Bail Us Out is the class of the field, having been graded stakes-placed over the synthetic strip at Woodbine at both 3 and 4 for trainer Kevin Attard. A well-traveled sort over the years, Bail Us Out began his career in the barn of Todd Pletcher and also raced twice for Brendan Walsh before moving to his current home with trainer Bobby Dibona at the tail end of last season. Brawn is one of two contender’s trainer Ruben Sierra has entered in the race along with Indecisiveness. Brawn is looking to rebound after finishing off the board in his last three starts. Indecisiveness projects to be the controlling speed in and will be dangerous if loose on the lead following his third-place finish over the turf in the Mr. Steele Stakes on May 16. I Know I Know, at his best on Tapeta but idle since December; Papa Golf, a winner of his last two starts with those victories coming 10 months apart; and Street Earnings complete the lineup. Biancone doubles up I Know I Know is trained by Patrick Biancone, who had a big day on Saturday winning a pair of races, including the Martha Washington Stakes with Haute Diva. The promising but somewhat quirky filly bounced back from a pair of dull efforts over the main track in the Grade 2 Davona Dale and Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Oaks with a last-to-first, half-length triumph while switching back to turf in the Martha Washington. :: Subscribe to the DRF Post Time Email Newsletter: Get the news you need to play today's races!  Haute Diva was ridden by Biancone’s future son-in-law Keith Asmussen, who earlier on the card guided the 2-year-old filly Elegante Miz to victory in her career debut for Biancone. Biancone said after the race he will look to get Haute Diva, who captured the Cash Run Stakes over the main track on New Year’s Day, back on the dirt in her next start. Haute Diva was the first of three stakes winners on Saturday’s card along with Rolando, who captured the $100,000 Big Drama, and Chicken Dance, upset winner of the Not Surprising Stakes. Rolando and Chicken Dance were both ridden to victory by Diego Herrera, his third and fourth victories on the card. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
