Three Technique under consideration for Champagne

If he thought he could get him into the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile without running again, trainer Jeremiah Englehart would likely wait to run Three Technique until then. But knowing it typically takes points earned in graded stakes races to get into the Juvenile field, Englehart will likely point the impressive maiden winner to the Grade 1 Champagne at Belmont Park on Oct. 5.
After finishing second in his first two starts, Three Technique rolled to a 5 1/2-length maiden victory Saturday, covering seven furlongs in 1:22.93 and earning a Beyer Speed Figure of 83. Three Technique is a son of Mr Speaker owned by Hall of Fame football coach Bill Parcells.
“I always thought he was a very nice horse, he just had to overcome some things,” Englehart said. “I knew he’d be better with added distance. I’m glad he finally got to show what I’ve been seeing in the morning. We'll look at the Champagne and kind of go from there.”
Three Technique was the ninth juvenile winner of the meet sent out by Englehart.
