Three stakes highlight Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – This week’s racing schedule has a tweak due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. While there will be no live racing Thursday, the four-day race-week will remain intact with programs Friday through Monday.
Three stakes, each worth $100,000, are scheduled over the weekend, with the Franklin Square for New York-bred 3-year-old fillies on Saturday, the Ladies Handicap for older females on Sunday, and the Interborough for older female sprinters on Monday.

Aqueduct will resume its regular Thursday-through-Sunday schedule beginning Jan. 21.
Laobanonaprayer will seek her third consecutive stakes victory when she heads a likely short field expected for Saturday’s Franklin Square at 6 1/2 furlongs. A winner of the Maid of the Mist at Belmont and the Fifth Avenue division of the New York Stallion Series at Aqueduct, Labaononaprayer worked five furlongs in 1:02.24 at Parx last Saturday.
Others expected for the Franklin Square are A Life That’s Good, Rossa Veloce, and Vacay.
