Three more tie for fastest furlong on day 3 of OBS June preview

Nicole Russo|Jun 07, 2019

Three colts by a diverse trio of sires worked furlongs in 9 4/5 seconds to tie for the fastest time overall at the distance as the under-tack preview show for the Ocala Breeders' Sales Co.'s June sale of 2-year-olds in training and horses of racing age moved past the midway point with its third of five sessions on Friday.

Colts by Algorithms, Bourbon Courage, and Overdriven were the bullet workers Friday on the Ocala Training Center's all-weather Safetrack surface. They are now tied with a filly by City Zip and a colt by Distorted Humor who worked earlier in the week for the fastest time overall at the distance, the traditional yardstick for 2-year-old in training sales.

The colt by Algorithms, whose sire stands at historic Claiborne Farm in Kentucky, is consigned by Whitman Sales, as agent. He is out of the winning Run Away and Hide mare Lignite, a half-sister to stakes winner Backdoor Kenny. Graded stakes winners Alquoz, Ayman, Kaatoon, Seeker's Gold, and Swing and Miss appear on the catalog page.

Bourbon Courage, standing at Anchor and Hope Farm in Maryland, is one of a handful of this year's freshman sires to have already registered multiple winners. His bullet-working colt, consigned by Victory Stables, as agent, is the first foal out of the unraced Louis Quatorze mare Lulu Quatorze. This is the family of Grade 2 winner and multiple Grade 1-placed Signalman.

Overdriven's bullet worker is from the penultimate crop by his sire, who was pensioned and gelded after five seasons at stud, and is now competing in the show ring. This colt, consigned by M R Racing, as agent, is out of the Buddha mare Lady Buddha, who has one winner from two starters. The mare is a half-sister to two stakes-placed runners, including Lady Cerise, dam of Grade 3 winner Wild at Heart and two other stakes winners.

A filly by Majesticperfection and a colt by Raison d'Etat led the smaller group of horses to breeze a quarter-mile at Friday's session, both going in 20 4/5 seconds. They made it six juveniles tied for the second-fastest time overall at the distance at the breeze show, behind a Daredevil colt who worked in 20 3/5 seconds.
