Three juveniles tie for fastest furlong Friday at OBS

Joe Nevills|Apr 15, 2016

A trio of juveniles achieved the co-fastest time for a furlong at Friday’s under-tack show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. spring sale of 2-year-olds in training, covering the distance in 9 4/5 seconds.

Fifteen horses were tied for the fastest time at an eighth of a mile after the fifth of six under-tack shows. The horses breezed over the Ocala Training Center’s all-weather Safetrack surface. Here is a look at the horses who tied for the fastest furlong Friday.

• Hip 836, a Majestic Warrior filly out of the unraced Boundary mare French Line, whose eight winners from nine runners include the stakes winner Song Warrior and Yessiremychickadee. Consigned by Niall Brennan Stables as agent, the filly's extended family includes Grade 1 winners Nine Keys and Silver Voice, Grade 2 winner Clef d'Argent, and Grade 3 winner Martha's Music.

• Hip 956, a first-crop Astrology colt who is the first foal out of the Forestry mare I'm Fantabulous. Multiple Grade 3 winner and notable sire Halo's Image is in the colt's extended family. He is consigned by Eisaman Equine as agent.

• Hip 985, a first-crop Hansen filly out of the placed Broad Brush mare Jovani, who is the dam of three winners from four foals to race. Grade 1 winner Point Ashley is in the filly’s extended family, along with Grade 2 winners Halesia and Raw Gold. She is consigned by Shadybrook Farm as agent.

The day’s fastest time at a quarter-mile was reached by one horse, going in 20 3/5 seconds. Hip 837 is a Quality Road colt out of the Grade 3-winning French Deputy mare French Satin, whose four winners from six runners include the Grade 2-placed stakes winner Midnight Transfer. The New York-bred's page also features Grade 1 winner, Kentucky Derby runner-up, and stallion Lion Heart as well as Grade 3 winner Connemara. Eddie Woods consigns the colt as agent.

The fastest two-furlong time of this week’s breeze shows was registered Thursday, when a first-crop Shackleford colt went in 20 2/5 seconds.

The under-tack show concludes Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m. Eastern. The sale will take place Tuesday through Friday, starting each day at 10:30 a.m. Eastern.
