Three juveniles breeze a furlong in 9 4/5 seconds ahead of OBS sale

Joe Nevills|Apr 19, 2017

A trio of juveniles tied for the fastest time for an eighth of a mile during Wednesday’s breeze show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. spring sale of 2-year-olds in training, each stopping the clock in 9 4/5 seconds.

At the halfway point of the six-day under-tack show, nine horses were tied for the fastest time for a furlong. The horses breezed over the Ocala Training Center’s all-weather Safetrack surface.

Following are the three horses to tie for the fastest time at one furlong Wednesday.

• Hip 422, a Quality Road filly out of the unraced Tiznow mare Favoritism, whose first foal to race is a winner. Her extended page includes Grade 1 winner El Brujo, Japanese Group 1 winner Moanin, Grade 2 winners Concave and Dame Mysterieuse, and Italian Group 3 winner Barn Five South. De Meric Sales consigns the filly as agent.

• Hip 504, a first-crop Prospective filly out of the unraced Grand Slam mare Grand Episode, who has one winner from two foals to race. The Florida-bred's extended family includes champion Street Sense, Grade 1 winner Mona De Momma, Grade 3 winner and notable sire Mr. Greeley, and Grade 3 winners Vestrey Lady and Tajaaweed. She is consigned by Daylight Farm Racing and Sales.

• Hip 581, a First Samurai colt who is the first foal out of the unraced Indian Charlie mare Indian Bay. His second dam is Grade 2 winner Buy the Barrel, with an extended family that includes Grade 3 winners Fishy Advice, Demarcation, and Mauk Four. He is consigned by Grassroots Training Center as agent.

The fastest time of the day for a quarter-mile breeze came from Hip 591, a Malibu Moon filly who completed her workout in 20 4/5 seconds.

The filly is out of the Grade 3-placed stakes-winning More Than Ready mare In The Slips, whose first foal to race is a winner. French Group 3 winner Sparkling Beam is in the extended family, as are Group 1-placed runners Pearl Dance, Rainbow Springs, and Delta Blues. Eddie Woods consigns the filly as agent.

The breeze shows continue daily through Saturday, starting each day at 8 a.m. Eastern. The auction will be held April 25-28 with a 10:30 a.m. start time.
