Three Hour Nap has successful surgery

Marcus Hersh|Jul 31, 2006

Three Hour Nap, who fractured his right foreleg during the Washington Park Handicap on Saturday at Arlington, had successful surgery to repair the injury on Monday morning.

Three Hour Nap was shipped Saturday night to the Rood and Riddle veterinary clinic near Lexington, Ky., and had a metal plate with 12 screws inserted into his leg to stabilize a fracture that spiraled from the ankle through the cannon bone. Two more screws were placed in another less serious ankle fracture to stabilize the bone there.

"He got up and he's doing good," said trainer Hugh Robertson. "Usually on something like this they stabilize quickly enough that hopefully he can put weight on it and not founder in the other leg."
