Three from General George in Sunday's sprint feature

It’s not the General George, but the best race at Laurel Park on Sunday will rematch the second-, third-, and 12th-place finishers from that $250,000 race.
In midstretch of the seven-furlong General George, it looked like Cutty Shark had the race wrapped up. He had swept to the lead outside of Zee Bros and opened up several lengths on the field. He may have used a bit too much energy, however, as Misconnect closed ground on him late and was up to win by a neck. The final furlong went in 13.34 seconds.
Forest Boyce stays aboard for trainer Donald Barr. Boyce will be in from Fair Grounds, where she has won 20 races this winter.
Souper Knight ran well to finish a clear third in the General George for trainer Mike Trombetta after lagging far back early. He was beaten two lengths by Cutty Shark.
Sunday’s eighth race has fourth-level allowance conditions and a $40,000 claiming option. It is at six furlongs, and Smash and Grab – who finished last in the General George – may benefit the most from the shorter distance.
Smash and Grab has good speed, but he didn’t make the lead in the General George and ended up rating close to the pace along the rail. It was very cold on General George Day, and horses racing along the inside were at a disadvantage.
If Smash and Grab can shake free on the lead Sunday for trainer Damon Dilodovico, he could prove very tough to catch.
