Three five-digit carryovers on Sunday's Laurel Park program
?q=100)
Sunday's card at Laurel Park will offer five-digit carryovers for three wagers after several upsets stumped bettors on Saturday.
The Early Pick 5 leads with a $58,193 carryover, though it could again be the most challenging bet.
All nine favorites went down on Saturday and only two winners went off at odds under 5-1, undoubtedly creating value in individual race bets but making multi-race wagers increasingly difficult.
The Early Pick 5 on Sunday will feature two races on turf and three on dirt. The 10-horse field in the first, a $16,000 maiden claiming race on turf, includes six also-eligible runners and has also been restricted to amateur jockeys, which could trip up many bettors.
The Late Pick 5, starting in Sunday's fifth race, will have a $26,471 carryover. The co-features on the card, two restricted $48,000 allowances at six furlongs, feature evenly matched fields on turf and dirt. In the final race of the day, a $25,000 maiden claiming race on turf, only three of the nine runners entered have run more than once on the surface.
The Jackpot Super High 5, a wager that rolls over whenever bettors fail to pick the first five finishers in a designated race, will return for the sixth race on Sunday, a $16,000 claiming race, with a $26,471 carryover. It will be difficult to parse through the field of 10 fillies and mares, in which Donate Life, a 4-year-old filly on the rail, is the tepid 5-2 morning-line favorite looking for her first turf victory since September. The Jackpot Super High 5 pool is completely paid out only if there is a single winning ticket.
