Three fillies post fastest breezes at Equine Sales Co. of Louisiana pre-sale

Joe Nevills|May 08, 2016

Three fillies tied for the fastest time for an eighth of a mile on Sunday during the Equine Sales Co. of Louisiana 2-year-olds in training and horses of racing age sale.

All three horses were timed in 10 1/5 seconds at the Copper Crowne Training Center in Opelousas, La.

Here are details on the three horses to achieve the fastest time.

:: DRF BREEDING LIVE: Real-time coverage of breeding and sales

Hip 28, a Custom for Carlos filly who is the second foal out of the winning Pollard’s Vision mare Stellar Vision. Bred in Louisiana by BCS Thoroughbreds, the filly is from the family of stakes winners Airizon and Airistar, as well as Grade 3-placed Scarlet Starlet.

Pike Racing consigns the filly as agent. She was offered in last year’s Equine Sales Co. consignor select yearling sale, but was bought back with a final bid of $8,000.

Hip No. 76, Shamrock Star, is a filly from the first crop of Star Guitar and the second foal out of the winning Eugene’s Third Son mare Indian Treaty. Bred in Louisiana by Half Moon Stables, the filly is from the family of Grade 1 winner Dr. Root, Grade 2 winner Crockadore, Grade 3 winner Embassy Row, Killer Diller, and Flowing, and Grade 3-placed The Brave Chicken.

Benchmark Training Center consigns the filly as agent, and she was a $3,000 purchase out of last year’s Equine Sales Co. consignor select yearling sale.

Hip No. 98, Just Kylie, a Greeley’s Galaxy filly out of the winning Afternoon Deelites filly Just Alex, whose first foal has raced. Bred in Louisiana by Gerald Averett, Just Kylie is from the family of Italian classic winner Golden Titus and Grade 1 winner Taylor’s Special.

The sale will be a quick turnaround for the filly, who sold for $21,000 at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. spring 2-year-olds in training sale last month. She was purchased by Boutte Sales, agent, who consigns her at this sale. Just Kylie was a supplemental entry into the catalog.

The auction takes place Tuesday beginning at 11 a.m. Central, with a catalog of 101 horses on offer.
