Three allowance races top Mother's Day card at Churchill

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Mother should be pleased with the 10-race card on tap Sunday at Churchill. Three allowances serve as co-features on an afternoon when thousands of families traditionally accompany mom to the races. First post is 12:45 p.m. Eastern.
Race 2 is an $87,000 first-level mile in which Rubus and Mississippi figure as major threats. Race 8 is an $89,000 second-level route in which Coach Rocks makes her second start of the year, and Race 9 is a $91,000 third-level turf sprint that drew an interesting lineup headed by Richard’s Boy, who could surpass the $1 million earnings mark with a victory.
After Sunday, Churchill goes dark for three days before another four-day week resumes Thursday. The highlight next weekend is the Grade 3, $100,000 Louisville Handicap, a 1 1/2-mile turf race that will precede the simulcast of the Preakness from Pimlico on Saturday.
