Thoroughbred Charities of America raised almost $1.7 million at its 2011 stallion season live and telephone auction, which concluded with 32 seasons offered in the live auction at Keeneland on Jan. 8. The event also saw Darley Stud receive the TCA’s annual leadership award and Lori Neagle of the Kentucky Equine Humane Center pick up the charity’s industry service award. Nicole Pieratt of the Sallee Horse Vans shipping company also was recognized for the company’s work to assist Thoroughbred rescue programs. TCA raises and distributes funds to Thoroughbred-related charities.
