Thomas plans Tampa work for Catholic Boy

Catholic Boy had a second breeze since his 4 3/4-length victory in the Dec. 2 Remsen when going a half-mile in 48.20 seconds Saturday at the Bridlewood training center in Ocala.
Trainer Jonathan Thomas intends to ship Catholic Boy to Tampa this weekend for another workout, along with schooling sessions in the paddock and starting gate.

Catholic Boy, owned by Robert LaPenta, then will have another work at Bridlewood on Feb. 3 before returning to Tampa for his 3-year-old debut in the Grade 3 Sam Davis.
◗ Another four-day race week begins Wednesday at Tampa with a 10-race card composed entirely of maiden and/or claiming races. First post is 12:25 p.m. Eastern. The next stakes date is the Feb. 10 Sam Davis card that features three other stakes, including the scheduled return of World Approval in the Grade 3 Tampa Stakes on turf.
