Thistledown: Startin Something finishes strong in Angenora

Tim Scaravilli|May 28, 2012

Startin Something settled just off the leaders outside into the turn, rallied four wide into the stretch, made the lead inside the eighth pole under Scott Speith, and drew away to a 1 3/4-length win in the $50,000 Angenora Stakes for Ohio-accredited fillies and mares on Monday afternoon at Thistledown.

Honey Be Fleet rallied behind the winner to finish second, three-quarters of a length in front of the pacesetting Mad Jazz, a 41-1 longshot who went the first five furlongs in 58.48 seconds. Pay the Man, the 3-2 favorite who had won the Angenora four times in five years, was fourth, beaten 4 1/4 lengths in her first start since late February.

Owned by Blazing Meadows Farm, LLC. And trained by Tim Hamm, Startin Something ran the six furlongs in 1:11.64 and returned $9.60.
