Diavoletto saved ground to upper stretch and was all out to get up in time and win the $50,000 Honey Jay Stakes by three-quarters of a length at Thistledown on Sunday.
Trained by Mike Rone and ridden by Augustin Bracho, Diavoletto was swung out into the stretch and split horses late to win in 1:10.02 for six furlongs over a fast track. Sneak a Cold Treat set quick fractions but tired to settle for second, 1 1/4 lengths in front of the late-closing Pyrite Green in third.
The 2012 Ohio Sprinter of the Year, Diavoletto returned $12.80 to win.
