Thistledown: Catch My Cat holds on

Catch My Cat defeated Catlaunch by a nose and then survived a claim of foul to win the $40,000 Mike Rowland Memorial Handicap at Thistledown. Cruzcat finished third, three lengths farther back in the field of five Ohio-breds.

Catch My Cat broke inward, but made the lead after a quarter-mile. He was headed by Catlaunch in deep stretch, and fought back along the inside to prevail. Catlaunch disputed the pace along the rail, and checked inside of Clever Jimmy C. and Catch My Cat with about a half-mile to run. The rider of Catlaunch, Hector Rosario Jr., lodged a claim of foul against Catch My Cat and jockey Andrew Ramgeet.

Catch My Cat is owned by Richard Frankel and his trainer, Charlton Baker. He ran the six furlongs in 1:12.20 over the sloppy racing strip and returned $3.40.
