Thistledown: Bold Captain upsets Governor’s Buckeye Cup

Bold Captain closed three and four wide after trailing the opening quarter-mile, made the lead near the quarter pole, and drew off to a 3 1/2-length win over Allsarott in Saturday’s $50,000, 1 1/4-mile Governor’s Buckeye Cup at Thistledown.

Allsarott finished 8 1/4 lengths ahead of Thats a Heckofacat.

Trained by Miguel A. Feliciano, owned by Pyrite Stables, and ridden by Luis J. Martinez Jr., Bold Captain ran the distance in 2:05.88 over a sloppy track and returned $40.80. Heavily favored Catlaunch ran fifth, four lengths behind Thats a Heckofacat.
