Thistledown: Blazing Bling in strong spot to win third straight in Miss Ohio

Tim Scaravilli|Aug 29, 2012

Blazing Bling, the lone stakes winner in a field of seven, looks to continue her winning ways and capture her third win in a row in Friday’s 45th running of the $50,000, six-furlong, Miss Ohio Stakes for 2-year old Ohio-registered fillies at Thistledown.

Trainer Timothy Hamm will also send out Disappeared, who is part of a coupled entry with Blazing Bling for owners Blazing Meadows Farm and Langsem Farm, and Unique Indygo for owner Bruce Ryan.

Blazing Bling won the Hoover Stakes at River Downs on Aug. 11 after setting all the pace and won her maiden here on July 30 by a convincing 14 3/4 lengths while under a snug hold. Earlier, she finished second in the Tah Dah Stakes at River and the Cleveland Kindergarten Stakes here. Jockey Deshawn Parker, who only rode this filly in the Hoover, gets the return mount.

Small Town Flirt is the only other stakes-placed filly in the race. She ran third in the Tah Dah on July 21 and won her first lifetime start here against Ohio- bred maiden special weight fillies on July 9. Trainer Robert Gorham has engaged the riding services of Jeffrey Skerrett.

Disappeared, who has been competing against open maiden special weight fillies at Presque Isle downs over the synthetic racing surface following her career debut here in the Cleveland Kindergarten on July 7, returns to the dirt and may benefit from the shorter distance here after going two turns and running second in her most recent start on Aug. 14. Oswald Pereira will ride.
