OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Therapist, winner of Saturday’s $100,000 Artie Schiller Stakes at Aqueduct, could run one more time this year, trainer Christophe Clement said Sunday. Clement said he would consider running Therapist in the $100,000 Aqueduct Turf Sprint Championship, a six-furlong race on Nov. 28, or he could point to a stakes at Gulfstream Park in December. If he doesn’t run again this year, the 5-year-old gelding will certainly be brought back for a 2021 campaign. Therapist, who rallied from off the pace to beat Valid Point by a neck in the Artie Schiller, has won stakes at ages 2, 3, 4, and 5. He has won eight stakes and has a career record of 9 wins from 21 starts with earnings of $653,345. “Isn’t he a fun horse?” Clement said. “He’s the best advertisement for that New York-bred program. He’s won stakes four years in a row and he’s always competitive.” :: Want to get your Past Performances for free? Click to learn more. Clement is the co-breeder of Therapist along with Richard Leahy, who bought Clement out and races the horse under his Oak Bluff Stables. Clement credits Leahy with allowing him to give Therapist a lengthy winter respite and bring him back “nice and fresh” in the spring. Therapist earned a 96 Beyer Speed Figure for his Artie Schiller victory.
