Texas Thoroughbred Association sale posts gains in gross, average, and median
The broodmare Soft Music is making a habit of producing sales-toppers in Texas.
Her daughter by Too Much Bling brought $100,000 on Monday to top the Texas summer yearling sale at Lone Star Park.
It was the second time one of Soft Music’s offspring has topped the sale. A full brother to this year’s topper, Lullaby Bling, brought $100,000 at the corresponding sale in 2017 to rank the co-sales-topper.
This year’s topper is named Baroque Music and was bred by trainer Danele Durham. She was purchased by Mansfield Racing and consigned by agent Highlander Training Center.
Baroque Music is a full sister to Bling on the Music, a multiple stakes winner who defeated males in the Gold Rush Futurity at Arapahoe Park. Baroque Music was bred in Texas.
Monday’s produced record numbers for a Texas Thoroughbred Association-produced sale, according to a press release. There were 161 yearlings that sold for $3.4 million, for an average of $21,186. There were 50 horses that did not sell.
At the corresponding sale a year ago, gross sales were $3.2 million and the average was $18,246. The median last year was $10,000 and on Monday it reached $14,500.
Mansfield Racing also bought the second-highest seller Monday, giving $90,000 for a colt by Take Charge Indy. He is out of the multiple stakes-winning mare All Woman and was consigned by agent Clear Creak Stud. The unnamed yearling was bred in Louisiana.
