The Texas Thoroughbred Association announced Wednesday that 207 yearlings have been cataloged for the Texas Summer Yearling Sale on Aug. 26 at Lone Star Park near Dallas.
The book also includes a mix of 10 additional horses, including broodmares and weanlings, that will sell as part of a Three Feathers Farm dispersal. The auction will begin at 10 a.m. Central.
A year ago, the same auction cataloged a near-record 264 yearlings, according to a press release from the TTA.
“I’m pleased with both the quantity and quality of the yearlings in this year’s catalog,” sales director Foster Bridewell said in the release. “We came down a bit in the total number compared to last year’s near-record entries, but we really have some quality individuals in this offering and the entire region is well represented.”
The Louisiana-bred program accounts for 91 yearlings in the catalog, while the Texas-bred program has produced 48 yearlings for this year’s sale. There also are 32 Arkansas-breds on offer in a surge from a program running for significant statebred purses at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Ark.
Some of the stallions with offspring in the sale include El Deal, who is the sire of leading Louisiana-bred runner Free Like a Girl, By My Standards, Cloud Computing, Exaggerator, Flat Out, Goldencents, Higher Power, Mo Town, Mr. Speaker, Practical Joke, Runhappy, Star Guitar, Street Boss, Tapiture, Thousand Words, West Coast, Will Take Charge, and Yaupon.
The catalog is online at ttasales.com, the same web address where the auction will be live streamed. There will be online bidding offered.
