The Texas Racing Commission has adopted a zero-tolerance policy on clenbuterol, according to agency spokesman Robert Elrod. He said the “prohibition” of the bronchodilator goes into effect Sept. 10. The Louisiana Racing Commission recently adopted a similar policy for Quarter Horses. It goes into effect Oct. 3. The penalties for Texas – which covers all breeds – range from a $1,000 fine, 30-day suspension, and loss of purse for a first offense to a $5,000 fine, 120-day suspension, and loss of purse for a third offense, according to Elrod. Ex-jockey Pettinger now agent Retired jockey Don Pettinger, one of the all-time winningest riders at Remington Park, will be working Remington’s upcoming meet as an agent. Pettinger said Monday he will be representing jockeys Sasha Risenhoover and Ronald Richard. Risenhoover, the regular pilot on Remington Park Oaks candidate Terra’s Angel, is returning to Oklahoma City for the first time in a few meets, said Pettinger. Her mounts on the Friday night card include Shotgun’s Night, a 3-year-old half-brother to millionaire Shotgun Kowboy. Richard will be riding for the first time at Remington, said Pettinger.
