Texas Glitter, a multiple Grade 3 winner and three-time course record-setter, died Nov. 16 from colic complications, Signature Stallions in Reddick, Fla., announced Thursday. A Glitterman horse, he was 12. Texas Glitter won nine stakes in his career, most notably a trio of Grade 3 events: the 1999 Spectacular Bid Stakes, the 2000 Laurel Dash Stakes, and the 2002 Hollywood Turf Express Handicap. He earned $826,077. Texas Glitter was a graded winner on both dirt and turf and set all his records on grass. He set five-furlong records at Calder and Gulfstream in 2002, and a six-furlong record at Laurel in 2000. At stud, Texas Glitter sired stakes-placed Magic Texan, Twiceasbeautiful, Lola B., and Texas Voyager and more than 50 other winners from three crops to race. His progeny earnings stood at more than $1.7 million at his death. Texas Glitter, a son of the stakes-placed Apalachee mare Come on Texas, had stood for $4,000 this year.
