Texas Chrome will miss Springboard Mile

Texas Chrome, a three-time stakes winner this year at 2, will miss the $250,000 Springboard Mile on Dec. 13 at Remington. The horse emerged from his fifth-place finish in Remington’s $100,000 Clever Trevor on Nov. 6 with an injury and is getting a few months off, according to his trainer, Shea Stuart.
Texas Chrome is scheduled to return to the track at the end of January or early February. He will then be based at Oaklawn, where Stuart will have a division for the first time. Texas Chrome won the Texas Thoroughbred Association Sale Futurity at Lone Star, the Gold Rush Futurity at Arapahoe, and the Governor’s Cup at Zia.
“He accomplished a lot,” said Stuart, who will have 15 horses at Oaklawn. “I think he should be the Texas-bred 2-year-old of the year. I think he’s ahead on points. He had a great year.”
Texas Chrome races for Danny Keene.
