Texas Belle streaking into Lone Star Park Turf Stakes

Texas Belle brings a hot streak into the $100,000 Lone Star Park Turf Stakes on Monday. She will be looking for her fourth consecutive win when she runs in the new one-mile race for fillies and mares that drew a field of nine, including multiple stakes winner Adore and Kentucky invader Sensitive.

The Lone Star Park Turf Stakes will go as the eighth race on a nine-race program that starts at 1:35 p.m. Central. The pick four on races 6-9 will have a minimum guaranteed pool of $50,000, said Bart Lang, director of racing for Lone Star. The forecast calls for a high of 87 degrees and a 20 percent chance of rain, according to The Weather Channel.

Texas Belle built her streak in a trio of turf routes for fillies and mares this winter at Sam Houston. She defeated open company in an optional $35,000 claiming race Jan. 26, then won an allowance against Texas-breds on March 1. Texas Belle proceeded to capture the $50,000 San Jacinto for Texas-breds in her last start March 23.

“She loves Houston – always runs well there – and just came to herself over the course of the meet,” said Mindy Willis, who trains Texas Belle for Richard P. Chandler.

“She’s doing very, very well right now. She’s on top of her game.”

Rudy Guerra has the mount from post 3.

“He’s been on her all the way through Houston,” Willis said. “He knows her. Before Rudy started riding, he was galloping her, so he knows her well.”

Adore will break from post 8 with Richard Eramia up for trainer Steve Asmussen. Shaun Bridgmohan has the mount on Sensitive from post 4 for trainer Brad Cox.

The field from the rail is: Terra’s Angel, Santino, Texas Belle, Sensitive, Hay Flo, Create a Star, Roussalka, Adore, and Blessed Again.
