Tetragonal's connections hoping to make Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf field

Tetragonal, second by a neck in the Surfer Girl Stakes on Oct. 4 at Santa Anita, is an intended starter in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf on Nov. 6 at Keeneland, if she can draw into what is likely to be a large field.
Trained by Richard Baltas for Slam Dunk Racing and Joey Platts, Tetragonal was seventh after a poor start in her American debut in the Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf at a mile on Sept. 6, and then finished well to end up close to the undefeated Madone in the Surfer Girl. Madone is a candidate for the BC Juvenile Fillies Turf.
The Juvenile Fillies Turf is limited to 14 starters and often draws an oversubscribed field. Pre-entries are due Monday and will be announced Wednesday.
“If we get in, the owners want to run,” Baltas said. “I thought we could have won the other day. We’ve always thought she was really nice.”
Baltas said Tetragonal was schooled in the starting gate after the slow start at Del Mar. In her first start, Tetragonal won a maiden race at Beverley Racecourse in northern England on Aug. 4. She was sent to California shortly after that race.
