Terra Promessa, Taxable may both go in Oaks
HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Terra Promessa won her fourth straight race Saturday here in the Grade 3, $400,000 Fantasy, with her stablemate Taxable in second. Both came out of the race in “great shape,” trainer Steve Asmussen said Sunday.
Asmussen said both fillies were to ship Monday to Churchill Downs. Terra Promessa is likely to run next in the Kentucky Oaks on May 6, he said, while Taxable is possible for the Oaks, with her status to be determined by her training and discussions with owner Winchell Thoroughbreds.
Asmussen noted that both fillies are winners over the main track at Churchill.
Terra Promessa’s effort Saturday impressed Asmussen.
“I thought she overcame some traffic early,” he said. “She kind of got squeezed going into the first turn. It put her on the bridle. She got a little overly aggressive. But I thought Taxable made a very good run at her, and she was able to find some more late, which you love to see.”
Terra Promessa, who is unbeaten at two turns, races for her breeder, Stonestreet Farm.
