Ten Sovereigns joins sire at Coolmore

Coolmore’s No Nay Never was Europe’s leading freshman sire of 2018, raising the hopes for other sons of his late sire, Scat Daddy, worldwide – including, of course, Triple Crown winner Justify, who entered stud this season. The sire line now will attempt to bolster its reputation into the next generation, as Group 1 winner Ten Sovereigns enters stud at Coolmore’s Irish base alongside his sire, No Nay Never, for 2020.
Ten Sovereigns won this year’s Group 1 July Cup at Newmarket in England and last year’s Group 1 Middle Park Stakes there.
“Ten Sovereigns has great power and great presence,” said Coolmore’s David O’Loughlin. “He’s the second-fastest July Cup winner and the third-fastest Middle Park winner of all time and is by a seriously good sire in No Nay Never. I have no doubt that breeders are going to love him.”
Ten Sovereigns will be one of three new stallions for Coolmore Ireland in 2020, along with classic winner Magna Grecia, by Invincible Spirit, and Calyx, a juvenile winner at Royal Ascot by Kingman.
◗ Other new stallions in Europe for 2020 include Waldgeist, who defeated two-time European Horse of the Year Enable to win the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in October; and Blue Point, who won two Group 1 races in one week at this year's storied Royal Ascot meeting. Waldgeist, a son of Galileo, will begin his career at Ballylinch Stud in Ireland, while Blue Point has retired to Darley's Kildangan Stud in Ireland.
