HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - Tempt Fate won his third consecutive race Saturday, when he darted to a 2 3/4-length win over Man in the Can in the $150,000 Nodouble at Oaklawn Park. It was another half-length back in third to Bandit Point. The Nodouble was a six-furlong race for 3-year-olds and up bred in Arkansas. The defending winner, K J’s Nobility was scratched, as was Captain Don, who is entered in a Sunday allowance at Oaklawn. Tempt Fate ($3.20) took the field through an opening quarter in 22.19 seconds and a half-mile in 45.61, while withstanding pressure from Bebop Shoes. In the stretch he had more, withstanding the bid of Man in the Can, the 2020 Arkansas-bred of the Year. Tempt Fate covered six furlongs on a fast track in 1:10.14. “Turning for home, he was all horsepower,” winning jockey Joe Talamo said in an interview broadcast by Oaklawn. “I think he has a really bright future.” Carl Deville trains Tempt Fate for Jerry Caroom. The horse was winning his first stakes. He had paired up local allowance victories heading into the Nodouble. He is a son of Hamazing Destiny. Tempt Fate earned $90,000 on Saturday. He has now won 4 of 10 starts for earnings of $256,100.
