Tell All You Know overcomes trouble in Honor the Hero

Ted Grevelis|May 26, 2014

SHAKOPEE, Minn. – Even-money favorite Tell All You Know overcame a troubled trip to get up in the final sixteenth and take the $75,000 Honor the Hero Stakes at Canterbury Park on Monday. In winning his first stakes, Tell All You Know covered the five furlongs on turf in a stakes-record time of 55.85.

Shuffled back after the break, Tell All You Know raced behind the mare Satan’s Mistress down the backstretch under Dylan Davis.

“They gave us a pretty tough trip out there,” Davis said. “The only option was to take him back a bit.”

On the turn for home, Satan’s Mistress gave up the lead to second choice Castletown. Tell All You Know was caught behind fading longshot Rockin Home, and Davis had to move him to the outside. Castletown angled out a bit, forcing Tell All You Know to the middle of the racetrack. Once clear, Tell All You Know closed the gap and won by three-quarters of a length.

“I had to pull him outside and we lost a bit of run there,” said Davis. “For a big horse he was able to regroup quickly and really accelerated.”

Tell All You Know paid $4 for the win, $2.60 to place and $2.10 to show. Castletown, in his turf debut, finished second, paying $3 and $2.40, while last year’s runner up, El Seventyseven, finished third and paid $2.60.
