Telekinesis earns Queen's Plate berth with Plate Trial win

ETOBICOKE, Ontario — Queen’s Plate winterbook favorite Telekinesis punched his ticket to the June 30 Queen’s Plate with a gutsy score over a persistent Rose’s Vision in Saturday’s $125,000 Plate Trial Stakes at Woodbine.
Telekinesis ($2.90) set slow fractions of 25.06, 49.66 and 1:13.31 in the nine-furlong route, while being pressed throughout by Rose’s Vision.
Rose’s Vision drew abreast of Telekinesis early in the stretch, but Telekinesis dug in through the final furlong to prevail by 1 3/4 lengths, in a time of 1:50.40.
Aheadbyacentury came from fourth to finish another 4 3/4 lengths back in third. He was followed by Boyhood Dream, Scrapper, Absolution, and Silent Sting.
“He was traveling so easy,” said Patrick Husbands, who rode Telekinesis for trainer Mark Casse. “By the time I left the gates, he had one ear back and one ear forward. That’s the sign that a horse is very comfortable under you. By the three-quarter pole, he still had one ear forward and one ear back. It told me he was just playing with that horse. Down the lane, I squeezed him a little bit. He did just enough to win the race.”
A handsome son of Ghostzapper, Telekinesis earned $75,000 in his first stakes victory for Stonestreet Stables.
