Telarosa, Micmac Warrior head closing-day Sale Futurity
RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLEFair Grounds in New Orleans will close out its Quarter Horse meet Saturday with a collection of some of the meet’s fastest 2-year-olds. The $303,777 Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association Sale Futurity is comprised of horses with the 10 best times during trials, which took place Aug. 15, opening day of the meet.
The Sale Futurity will be run over 350 yards and will share a card with the $33,753 LQHBA Sale Invitational and the $30,000 Faubourg St. John over 870 yards. First post is 12:30 p.m. Central.
The quickest runners in the gate for the Sale Futurity are Telarosa and Micmac Warrior, who both completed 350 yards in 17.72 seconds in their trials.
Telarosa was a neck winner of her trial, her second consecutive win dating back to a Delta Downs trial race June 20. The filly will break from post 3 for trainer Kenneth Roberts.
Micmac Warrior was a length winner of his trial. He won his maiden in the race for trainer Trey Ellis. Micmac Warrior will break from post 7.
The most accomplished member of the field is The Renaissance Man, who has placed in two stakes. He was second to Micmac Warrior in his Sale Futurity trial, and like Telarosa, he is trained by Roberts.
Zoominforgrady has won 3 of 5 starts to boast the most career victories among the starters in the Sale Futurity. He will break from post 10.
